March Coffee and Conversation

Neighbors met at Marietta Coffee Company again on March 21, 2024 to discuss present state, recent actions, and proposed next steps. Meeting Notes Working on 501c3 status for Holt Road Alliance Working to establish the Holt Road Alliance Facebook group. with additional membership via promotion on other like-minded local groups. HRA is interested in working with Keep Cobb Beautiful for an Adopt-a-mile program for litter prevention on Holt Road. Proposing roughly a mile from Old Sewell/Holt Road to Raintree Way/Holt Road.

Neighbors met at Marietta Coffee Company again on December 1, 2023 to discuss present state, recent actions, and proposed next steps. Present State Recent Actions Next Steps Identify a name for the group (Holt Road Alliance!) Meeting with Cobb DOT to discuss ongoing projects around the Holt Road corridor. Explore viability of community outreach events, such as: Sponsoring a Walk To School day with the Wheeler and Eastvalley PTA, or similar.

Cobb BOC Meeting

The walkability issues along Holt Rd. were brought up during the Cobb County Board of Commissioners meeting on November 14, 2023. Some condensed material was shared which summarized some of the concerns discussed during the HRA Exploratory Meeting in October. Watch Below:

Exploratory Meeting

A group of neighbors met at Marietta Coffee Company on November 14, 2023 with the intent to discuss walkability concerns around Holt Rd. A few primary themes were brought up organically: Crosswalk Efficacy Several issues were noted highlighting the efficacy of existing crosswalks along Holt Rd. A student was hit by a bus earlier in the 2023/2024 school year. The student was crossing Holt Rd. at a place where there was no crosswalk, and even if the student had used the existing crosswalk, the crosswalk itself had been partially broken and inoperable from the West side of Holt.
